Dwai
Suéltalo Sábado is a night of dancing with latinx and global bass sounds, featuring musical guides @dwaiguy y @solomovimiento.
The party sprung to life after Dwai and Movimiento focused on building a party around showcasing latin music they grew up with and mixing it with contemporary global sounds. With your help we can create an atmosphere similar to the parties they'd fall asleep at as kids while the adults danced til 6am.
And 20% of all proceeds will go to @DuDanceLife, an organization that helps empower communities in need through dance!

What makes me boogie is a Soul-gushing, Heartfelt, Genuine type of love. Being able to pause for a moment and simply love life relentlessly, (family, my support network aka amazing friends, awe inspiring music and creativity, self, whatever I'm surrounded with a the time, nature and all it's divine beauty etc...) everything in me can't help but boogie. All it takes is one moment to zoom in on one of those rather than the stack loads of problems that I might have to conqueror, then "BOOM", the boogie begins. #d2lal The legacy continues...

Togetherness and loving energy is what we tend to miss out in modern society, a great part of my mission as an artist is to bring this back, we are all one family. BKyard Boogie is a great representation of it, one of the best thing in NYC, an event that’s dear to my heart.

Curiosity makes me boogie. The excitement of creating and of discovering new things about the world around me. Making connections between unconnected ideas. Seeing the natural world as a source of inspiration and as a toolbox for engineering solutions. Observing the mundane interactions of the ecosystems and life around us and pursuing the why and how. Learning all the time.
New ideas, new music, new people and a community of curious people who approach all experiences as an opportunity to learn: about their world, about their community and about each other. To me, that's what The Boogie is all about.

Salsa, hip hop, food and good company is what makes me get down and boogie. Rhythm, love and great memories also get me going. To boogie is to be free and to be free is to boogie bay bay!

It all started with stick figures, now we’re here boogie’ing like the figures we drew. Rhythm is sounds and silences put together, however around a beat.
If you ask me what makes me boogie it’s the rhythm in my own definition; friends and love put together around a backyard.

Boogie to me, is a state of mind. Feeling connected to people and places makes me feel so alive. When I am with people where I feel safe, I let loose most authentically (which is why I boogie hardest at BkYard Boogie ).
To me, connection is my ultimate driver, I want to know people deeply, and I’m inspired by spaces that lend themselves to authenticity. I move most like myself when I am with those who are doing the same. It’s rare to find spaces where this exists, so it’s for me, it’s about creating those spaces.
All music moves me, all people move me, together they make me boogie.

The joy and happiness I bring to people through my music and performances is what makes me boogie. I think people just need more happiness in their lives, and I think my passionate drive for music and achieving such a pipe dream only separates me from normality and being my true self.
Your legacy is every life and soul you’ve touched, and I live by that motto everyday. No amount of money or fame can bring such a beautiful feeling. Ultimately, gigs like the BKyard Boogie emphasize this message that music can truly bring people from all different backgrounds together. It's universal and bigger than we think it is.

boogie verb - to make joyous movements upon hearing high-energy music See also: any gathering of West Africans, Bill Withers, the Electric Slide [from my personal dictionary]
What makes me boogie? In the most literal sense, tunes with grooves from around the world like Tout le monde by Corneille and Odo Remix by Kidi (feat. Mayorkun & Davido), classics like For Once in My Life by Stevie Wonder, and absurd pop songs like break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored by Ariana Grande (don’t @ me) are all guaranteed to get me on the dance floor.
I also think of the term boogie in a figurative sense - as in things that make my spirit move vs my physical body. For me, that comes down to two main things: 1) creating art (I’m a singer/songwriter and a painter) and 2) connecting engaging people not only with each other, but also with the resources they need to help turn their ideas into reality.
I’m able to do the latter at The Shed as an Associate Producer, where I’m working on a variety of projects (like the immersive visual/performing art experience Reich Richter Pärt and a kung fu inspired play with incredible music and choreography called Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise) with many more to come. Layered vocals make my heart warm, and I’m grateful to have made music with some incredible musicians.

The loud sound of silence and rush of anxiety I get from seeing others enjoy what I’m playing. Realizing the most simplistic things go the furthest. I love the ugly faces when hearing great music. Drums make me Boogie, bass lines and smooth chords played simply. I love syncopated rhythms such as 7/8, 5/4, 3/4. Besides funk, house, and hip hop, I love Israeli Jazz! But how can I forget…food makes me Boogie the most!!!

1. A dancey rhythm, performers who give us chills and inspire our own creativity, a beat that makes us and our bodies say “yeeesss!”.
2. Lyrics that make us feel and think, connect and learn, challenge us and find our humanity.
3. Grooving and connecting with other people who love to LET GO and GET LOW—and are down for co-creating SAFE SPACE for all of us to do it.
4. This wild city! With her infinite opportunities and contradictions, where those of us who are lucky can live out all of our personas in the course of one day—and figuring out ways to spread that to everyone else. Rising together!
